Automatic panorama detection & generation

In quite a few cases where one wants to create a panorama, photos are shot with a fair bit of overlap and only a couple of seconds apart (generally).

It should be feasible to detect the series of photos for panorama shots and try to stitch them into a resulting panorama and hide the individual series of images. Even just grouping the photos together for manual stitching later would be of great interest.
